Privacy

We're a two-person studio, and this is a one-page marketing site. We collect as little as we can get away with. This page says exactly what that is, in plain language.

Who we are

Headroom is a two-person AI and automation studio based in Toronto and serving the Greater Toronto Area. For anything on this page, including a request to see or delete what we hold about you, email hello@makeheadroom.ca.

What we collect

Visitor analytics

We use Umami to count visits and see which parts of the page people actually read. It is privacy-friendly by design: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no personal information. It records aggregate things like page views, referring site, rough country, browser and device type, and clicks on our "Book a call" buttons. None of that identifies you, and we cannot use it to single out an individual visitor.

Session recording and heatmaps

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the page is used: where people scroll, what they click, and where the design confuses them. This is a temporary exercise while we improve the site, not a permanent fixture.

Clarity does set cookies (_clck and _clsk), which is the one place this site uses them. It records a reconstruction of your visit: mouse movement, scrolling and clicks. Microsoft acts as our processor and applies its own masking to text you type. Their handling is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can opt out entirely with any standard content or tracker blocker, or by using your browser's private mode; the site works exactly the same either way.

If you book a call

Booking uses Cal.com, which collects whatever you enter (typically your name, email address and what you'd like to talk about) so we can meet you. We use it to prepare for and hold that conversation, and to follow up with you afterwards.

If you email us

We keep the email, because that's how email works. We use it to reply and to keep track of the conversation.

The "Show us a chore" box

What you type into the sketch box on the homepage is processed in your browser and is not sent to us or stored anywhere.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your information. Not to anyone, ever.
• We don't run advertising or share data with ad networks.
• We don't train AI models on your data or on anything you send us.
• We don't build advertising profiles or track you across other websites.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is retained for roughly six months and then falls off. Clarity recordings are retained by Microsoft under their own schedule. Emails and booking details we keep for as long as we're working together or talking about it, and we'll delete them on request.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@makeheadroom.ca and we'll handle it. There's no form and no process, it's just the two of us.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date above. If Clarity comes off the site (which is the plan) this page will say so and the site will be entirely cookieless again.
